What is Osteopathy, and is it right for me?
Osteopathy is the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of problems involving the musculo-skeletal system. Osteopathic treatment aims to improve freedom of movement throughout the body, so that the best conditions are created for the joint and muscles to work well and heal quickly.
Osteopaths use physical manipulation and specialised manual therapy techniques to increase the mobility of joints, relieve muscle tension and help the body’s own healing mechanisms. They also provide advice on exercise, posture, nutrition and other techniques to aid recovery and prevent injuries.
Osteopathy is based on thorough knowledge of the human body, and the principal that all parts of the body must work together smoothly. For this reason, they always assess and treat the body as a whole, rather than focus solely on a symptomatic area, so that the results achieved during treatment are meaningful and long-lasting.
